We live in one of the most beautiful areas in Queensland if not Australia. Our environment invites us to be outdoors, active, and healthy. The fresh clear air, the mountain views and trails, the golden beaches so near, and the friendly people make it perfect to get together and do something.
Sometimes we can invent barriers to getting out and doing things, too cold, too hot, next week, too busy and the list goes on. In a recent study, 95% of people stated that their health was the most important aspect of their life, and I guess it should be. We need to be healthy to work, look after our children, and do all the things we really enjoy doing. However, if 95% of respondents say that their health is really important to them, then why do most of us spend 2% or less of our time focusing on our health?
The most effective way to get active is joining up with some friends or a group. Groups offer friendship, fellowship, a sharing of ideas, and more importantly, a subconscious commitment. I know of a few groups in the area which offer training for free. I also know of a great event for the family which is for free. Park run, is a event which is run throughout the whole world, that’s right, you can go anywhere in Australia or the world, and join in a park run. You can take the children; you can walk, walk/run or just run.
Park runs are conducted in the Sunshine Coast area, our nearest venue is Kawana, the link is: http://www.parkrun.com.au/kawana/. All you need to do is follow the link and register, and then you can go anywhere and join in the fun.
If you are keen to do a bit of training (just a bit) it all starts with a little bit, then contact us and we will inform you of the free training sessions that happen in the area.
