Dr Miles said – “We’ve got three big things that are coming; the first is better testing so affordable genome sequencing which can tell you your risk factor and if you are more than likely to contract prostate cancer, the second is better imaging, so life-saving clinical scanners and the third is new therapies,” .
“I’m really pleased men and their partners took the time to come along to hear about the warning signs for prostate cancer and the importance of undergoing regular PSA blood tests and prostate checks particularly for men over the age of 40,” Mr McArdle, a prostate cancer survivor, said.
Member for Caloundra McArdle said the forum was an opportunity for local residents to be informed, educated and help spread the word on the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men on the Sunshine Coast.
“Now it’s really up to us as a collective community to help spread the word on prostate cancer and to man up and talk to our doctors about it.”
