If enjoyment and satisfaction are the measure of success then the second Glasshouse Country Kids Triathlon held at the Beerwah Swiming Pool on Saturday Morning the 24th of November 2012 was huge and runaway success.
About 30 kids turned up a the Pool at about 6:30 AM, and signed up for the event, The event was free, although participants were required to pay pool entry costs. After a brief sign up sheet form was filled out by participants, race event organiser Peter Thorpe explained the route, and safety rules to children. The field was divided into three broad categories.
An added incentive to the group of race participants was was a lucky draw prize. An $800 race bike kindly donated to the Triathlon group by Scotty XX help the group stay focused and remain hopeful about winning.
If race sizes continue to double each month then this Kid Triathlon is destined to become one of the Glasshouse Country Iconic sports events for a number of reasons.
So how does it work:
1) You turn up to training: Training session are held on Tuesdays and Thursday at 3:30 and the cost is pool entry. Peter Thorpe is available to help you get training, some day you need you bike an other day you just need you running shoes and swimmers.
2) You turn up on race day: The cost of the past 2 events has been pool entry only. I reckon that make it the cheapest event comparable event on the Sunshine Coast.
I want to join:
Have a look at the photos and video, then invite you;r friends and family, the more people who get involved the better.
