Meet the Butcher: Kris Allen your local IGA Meat Manager

August 17, 2015 by Glasshouse Country 2 Comments

Meet the local IGA Butcher Kris Allen who comes from a family with a strong history of retail service. Following in his siblings footsteps Kris started his career 15 years ago at IGA Mooloolah and after gaining store experience, at 17 he was offered a butchers apprenticeship at the IGA

Kris remained a IGA Mooloolah until 2009, and when he then moved to the IGA at Evans Head in New South Wales. At 21 he became Meat Manager and remained at the store until 2013 – working his way up to assistant Store Manager. Returning to the IGA on Sunshine Coast, Kris worked as Meat Manager at Caloundra before coming on board at the refurbished IGA Beerwah in 2014.

Kris Allen

Kris loves dealing with customers and is always pleased to assist at any time. The meat department has a great team consisting of three butchers and two packers who are in store every day from 7.00 AM. They are always happy to answer any queries, to advise customers and provide personalised customer orders – it is just like having a butchers shop in store. A lot of pride is taken in presentation and in the high quality of the products.

We expect the display to look great both first thing in the morning and also at the end of the day. We source the best quality lamb, with beef and pork coming from Kilcoy Meats and Nolan Meats at Gympie, whilst fresh chickens come from suppliers such as locally based Mountain View Poultry at Beerburrum.

“We cut everthing fresh in store. Whole fresh lamb and pigs come in and produced fresh as required. We sell a lot of premium cuts and everything is done to very high standards – all premium grade cuts of beef are MSA (Meet Standards Australia) graded.”
