Work and Life: Planning and Growing a Home Based Business

A new Queensland government assistance program is available for home-based businesses established by stay-at-home parents, and Edgeware is proud to offer a program of intensive training and coaching towards the development of our well-regarded One Page Business Plan. Grants cover the cost of developing a business plan, followed by subsidy for setup and operational costs.

(In other words: Get government subsidy to build your One Page Business Plan)

Each business is different, and every business owner is different. The Edgeware process allows you to decide on a development program to suit your particular needs, strengths, resources and hopes, including the personal and social dimensions often absent from business planning.

Home Based Business 03

We will collaborate with you to create a personalised and effective program of activities, including one to one tutoring, mentoring and coaching, and access to our online courses. Your personal program may include:

• Strategic planning
• Marketing (including online marketing and using social media)
• Financial planning and management – supply, pricing, book keeping/accounting, distribution
• Personal development – entrepreneurship, resilience and confidence

If you wish, we can ensure that your program is delivered by an all-female team (we have specialists in all of these areas)

If you think this may be useful for you, please contact us for a free consultation on the value that Edgeware may bring to your business ideas and their realisation!

The way it works …

… is that you apply to the State Government for inclusion in the scheme (see below) and as part of that process you nominate your preferred trainer/coach/facilitator. If that’s Edgeware, we’ll help you with the process, and then start the real work!

Home Based Business Grants Program

The Queensland Government is offering $1 million in grants over three years to stay-at-home parents to establish or grow home-based businesses as part of Queensland Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow.

The Home Based Business grants program provides the support that stay-at-home parents need to make their business a success, while keeping a healthy balance between work and family.

Available funding

Funding of up to $5,000 (excluding GST) will be provided in two stages:

Stage one: Grants of up to $2,500 will be provided to stay-at-home parents to hire a professional consultant to develop a business action plan for their home-based business.

Stage two: Dollar for dollar funding of up to $2,500 will be provided to successful stage one recipients to improve or establish business as detailed in the business action plan developed in stage one.

Home Based Business 02

To be eligible, applicants must:

• have a Queensland-based business
• meet the definition of a home-based business
• have at least one child under 12 in their care for at least 50% of the time
• have an Australian Business Number (ABN)

Applications open 24 August 2015

A note from a successful home-based business Edgie

Home Based Business 01
Ludmila and Michael Doneman, Founders of Edgeware Creative Entrepreneurship are supportive and empowering business leaders who help entrepreneurs, like myself, expand their skill set to create successful and meaningful businesses. Michael and Ludmila have given me endless support while establishing my Pupcake venture and juggling my parental duties. As parents themselves, they understand the challenges of parenthood and the search to find balance between work and family commitments. If you want to gain greater clarity and direction about your business, I highly recommend an Edgeware course. Tanya Arnold
