Kids Triathlon Training Starting at the Beerwah Pool in September 2012

KIDS TRIATHLON TRAINING STARTING SEPTEMBER 2012 – BEERWAH POOL

Introduction:

Peter Thorpe Triathlon CoachHi I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Peter Thorpe and some may know me from “learn to swim sessions” at the pool. What you may not know is that I am level one triathlon coach and am very keen to invest my energy into getting our local kids interested in triathlons.

For a long period of time I have been involved in some form of children’s sport and care. I have a vast background in understanding children; their talents and their self perceptions.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, have worked with homeless children and more recently established my own childcare business with a sport and fitness focus. I have also coached for many years in various sports, and recently coached the A Grade Beerwah Bulldogs team. I am currently part of the local Ngungun Triathlon group which I help run with a number of other eager triathlon people J

About kids triathlons:

The most important part of any sport but particularly kids sport is that it has to be fun!  The child does not have to be able to swim fast, or even a long distance, the same for running and riding. In fact, in some sessions we may not even swim one lap and we may start off with a run/walk.  And they can use whatever bike they have at home!

It is all about getting children involved in an environment where they feel comfortable and confident. There will be games in and outside the pool and on the ovals. Every session will include a small component of education, nutrition, sleep, how the body functions etc.

Begins:            Tuesday September 4 2012.

Where:            Beerwah Pool. Tuesday and Friday 3.30pm -4.30pm

Cost:               $7 which includes entry into the pool.  *Bookings essential so we can organise pool usage
