Mooloolah Land Care Group

November 6, 2015 by Glasshouse Country 2 Comments

Ann McGrath is gathering an informal group of people who share a passion for local flora and fauna, she hopes that they would be able to get together and ask questions, share ideas, resources, contacts, photos and whatever else might be needed, If you are interested please read her invitation below or contact her on 0407445175 or 54947463

My name is Ann McGrath and my husband Greg and I own 4 acres that back on to the Tunnel Ridge Road bush in Mooloolah. For four years we have been clearing, planting, tearing our hair out and marveling as a have sought to revegetate some areas of our block.

Under the umbrella of Mooloolah River Waterwatch and Landcare, I would like to start up an informal group of people who are on the same journey as we are and share a passion for local flora and fauna. The area that you have planted or will be planting is irrelevant. When we meet, I envisage that we would ask questions, share ideas, resources, contacts, photos and whatever else might be needed. I would also like us to visit other people’s places to share their triumphs and/or disappointments.

My idea is that the group will end up being what the members of it want it to be. I think the first meeting should be at the Nursery site where we can check out the landscaping and planting behind the nursery. We can also discuss and make plans for the future of the group.

I would like to meet monthly and I have chosen Saturday afternoons so that those who work can join us.
The meetings will be free to members and will be advertised in the Glasshouse country news. Non-members will be a gold coin donation if they choose not to become members.

FIRST MEETING

When:
Saturday 14 November 2pm

Where:
Mooloolah Native Nursery, Steve Irwin Way

What:
Discussion of expectations of the group and questions and explore the grounds of Waterwatch where quite a lot of planting has been done.

Bring:
Ideas, comfy walking shoes (although the terrain is not that rough), water bottle and hat. I am always excited about the prospect of meeting with others and sharing ideas with others. See you on the 14th but if you would like to discuss anything before then please give me a ring.

Cheers
Ann
