Question: What Shops are we missing in Beerwah?

March 6, 2016 by Glasshouse Country 16 Comments

G’day Hinterlanidians I was wondering this morning… What shops are we missing in the Beerwah and surrounding areas? Music shops? Bait and tacklestores? Sports stores? If you think our area needs a new shop, what would it be and would you shop in it? Have a great one

Here are some of your thoughts

Helen Zollinger Bunnings, pet store, and def cinemas. A big w would also be great

Beerwah Cinema would be wonderful

Fleur Shaw Pet store already here Feed and Fodder has gone into most things pet stores have

Joyce Smith Well jeff i use to live in beerwah years ago and there was only four or five shops that i can remember but they do need more things there

Jeff Jefferson Beerwah is a growing town. There have been a lot of businesses come and go, and the only consistant factor for their demise is the ridiculously high rent! The people want something new, but don’t seem to support the small businesses that already exist. It could be because of store prices, however, the general concensus seems to be lack of business awareness. With at least half of the town traveling either East or South on a weekly basis, how do locals stand a chance?!

Jenny Harwood Kmart, pet store, music and appliance stores, cinema would be great especially for the young ones. (Target is more expensive than kmart). Sports and camping store would be good too.

Jacqui Wicks Maleny Film Society run films every fortnight in the Maleny Community Centre. …They have a liscenced bar and you can even get a meal there before the film

Deborah Galloway That sounds great Jacqui. Do you think there is any chance the Film Society would be interested in doing the same at Beerwah Community Centre on alternate weeks or even monthly?

Jacqui Wicks Hi Deborah Galloway you could maybe call and ask them www.malenyfilmsociety.com.au they may be interested.

Karina Degen I wish people would walk around town and have a look. We have a petshop we have a sports Store and two discount stores.

Shell Grant The pet shop is in the industrial area and that bargain shop is a rip off, bring back gone bonkers.

Deborah Galloway Hi, as an absolute newcomer, I’ve been really impressed by what Beerwah has to offer but there are times when a Sunshine Coast Council shopfront would have been great. I’ve used online and phone but would have appreciated person to person. Maybe this does exist and I’ve missed it.

Jaz Marinelli A juice bar that does acai as well! Also I think Big w or Kmart would’ve been better than the Target

Marissa Flier Music shops yes Sanity or JB hi-fi would be nice too many coffee shops in Beerwah even a nice cinema would be great.

Alison Fareham Hardware (preferably Bunnings), an Electrical retailer, Coles, another shoe shop & Baker’s Delight. In my dreams there would be an Ikea too!! Please, though – fewer cafés & restaurants!! Beerwah is obviously intended to be a mealtime stopover between the rest of the hinterland and Caloundra South where all the really big shops will be.

Chris Burchell Hardware (well stocked NOT mitre10), music shop (I still love cd and records), and why not Tory Richards Mexican restaurant sounds just grand.

Dlae Moffat I personally would like to see more electronic store like Dick Smith and such
An EB Games would be nice as well

Wayne Pitt There is a sports store akready in Beerwah 49 Beerwah parade just up from the pub. The store prides itself on old fashion friendly service lots of sales and discounts very competative prices so save your petrol prices and have a look before you travel to purchase fuel has just gone up again

Peta Golley Ooh a small cinema would be awesome! Like the one at Caloundra. And a Coles closer would be nice too.

Georgia Gourley An awesome home decor shop. Funky shabby chic !!!

Locky Thegun I’ll open a fishing shop

Bec Geebel Yes! A closer coles! And somewhere to buy children gifts. Like toys. All we have is a very overpriced and understocked country target ?

Heidi Langley I agree too many coffee shops for such a small town. Small Cinema would be great.

Kristy Dalleau Somewhere to buy toys and kids birthday gifts.

Seb Messina Bunnings, Coles & a Toyota dealership – come on Westfarmers!!!! & & & a Nikon shop!!!!!

Hela Warden Boost juice. a good thai place. Cinema would be awesome

Clifford Stewart A shoe shop for one. Really do miss the one that was next to IGA before the whole redevelopment

Karina Degen The one near iga now is the same owner as the old one that was neat iga before

Clifford StewartClifford Stewart Did it go back in? Thanks. Will check it out. Struggle to find shoes S13+

Anita Woodrow Karina Degen no it’s not.

Anita Woodrow Clifford Stewart maybe you could ask the staff about your size. As an independent they may be able to source it for you.

Kelly Zontanos Boost Juice!!!!

Shell Grant CINEMAS

Georgia Gourley Thai!!!!

Tory Richards Mexican restaurant.

Carla Schultz Boost juice

Scott Matthew Jb Hi-Fi.

Robyn Moore Shoe shop

April Andersonknijffross I reject shop and KFC

Johnny Woulfe Factorie!! Amazing clothes shop !

April Andersonknijffross And Coles

To be fair, I was more asking about locally owned businesses and not chain/franchise… On another page, people were mentioning a lot of businesses that, without a few million dollars, can’t be done here by locals. Many other businesses that were mentioned (i.e. hardware, nurseries, boutiques, sport stores, etc.) are already here! I am looking for a business idea that isn’t already taken and has no/very little competition. From what I’ve heard there is a local fb business directory being made which will help everyone identify what businesses are already here (because a lot of people, myself included, are oblivious to them). So big companies are out at this stage 🙂

We have a great Sports Store in Beerwah. Unfortunately shops on the eastern side of the railway line are often forgotten due to the closure of the railway crossing. But Main Roads and Councel know what is best. B— S—.
