Puzzle 03: How to reduce your Monthly Bank Fees by $60 a Year?

July 8, 2015 by Glasshouse Country 3 Comments

Zero ANZ Monthly Bank Fees if you deposit $2000 or more each month, at the Beerwah ANZ Bank. (but they won’t tell you that). The ANZ will waive the $5 Monthly Fee, saving you of $60 per year but unfortunately ANZ won’t offer that information until you ask them.

That’s right ! – save $60 a year on your Monthly ANZ Bank fees simply by asking !

All you have do is call ANZ Bank or go in and ask them to apply the Zero Monthly Fee and your savings are instant and immediate.

When I asked ANZ Bank why they won’t tell their customers this: ANZ said that this feature is only a few months old. 🙂

So help me solve this puzzle:  Why won’t the ANZ tell their customers?

Note: The ANZ Bank have even gone to the trouble of writing a web page suggestion how customers can save money on banking fees http://www.anz.com.au/personal/bank-accounts/existing-account-holders/tips-saving/minimise-fees/ but when I last checked it avoided explaining the ‘Zero Banking Fee’ option.

Possible Solution:

Assuming ANZ Bank has only 3000 customers in the Beerwah Region.

3000 people x 60 dollars per year = 180,000 Dollars, per year.

ANZ Bank stand to make an extra $180,000 Dollars per year, (in Beerwah alone) simply by failing to notify their customers that they might be eligible for Zero Fees.

That’s Really Annoying ANZ  !!  I appreciated the $60 saving, but I despise that they won’t tell you or apply the savings unless I make a fuss!

Why do we have to ask for it?

Some would say that the ANZ Bank has been gouging customers for much too long and that they have specialists whose job it is to rip you off.

The Irony of modern banking: There was a time when the banks were there to help you save money and the objective used to be to save money in the Bank, nowadays the tables have turned and simply saving on Bank Fees is considered a saving.

I personally feel this is wrong, and that the ANZ Bank should retrospectively fix this unfortunate little slip by returning the Bank Fees to customers who are entitled to this saving but who were unaware of the Zero Fee option.
